Vintage Airline Seat Map: American Airlines DC-10 ‘Standard’ From 1985

I previously posted three other American DC-10s – one from 1977 sporting a “Dining in the Sky†section, another from 1985 in a three-class international configuration, and a high-density coach layout operating to Hawaii. And here now is American’s standard version seen flying the skies in 1985 for this installment of Vintage Airline Seat Maps.…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: Delta Air Lines DC-10

When Delta Air Lines acquired Western Airlines in 1987, they integrated Western’s DC-10-10 fleet into their operation. The seat map below reflects a -30 configuration, and unless I’m wrong, Delta never had -30s so I assume this is a typographical error (this map was published in July 1987). Potential error aside, I’m a DC-10 aficionado…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: United Airlines DC-10-10 w/lounge (1979)

When I launched this blog in November 2010, my very first Vintage Airline Seat Map was a United Airlines DC-10-10, my second favorite aircraft after the 747. It was the configuration I flew most frequently, but the one appearing below was seen flying in the 1970s and included a First Class lounge with swivel seats.…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: American Airlines DC-10-10 LuxuryLiner (1977)

It’s time for another edition of Vintage Airline Seat Maps and this is probably one of the coolest layouts for a Douglas DC-10-10 that I’ve ever seen. The American Airlines configuration shown below seated a total of 264 passengers and was flying in the pre-deregulation era when airlines were less concerned with packing the greatest…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: Continental Airlines DC-10-30 (South Pacific)

I previously posted a Continental Airlines “Pub Version†of the Douglas DC-10-10 from the 1980s, and the one appearing below was their long-haul DC-10-30 from the same time period. It’s reported in the Continental Wiki (sourced from a book written by a former Continental manager) that President Jimmy Carter approved Continental to begin flying from…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: Continental Airlines DC-10-10 Pub Configuration

Here’s a pretty unique variation of a Douglas DC-10 Tri-Jet from the 1980s for this edition of Vintage Airline Seat Maps. Operated by Continental Airlines, this DC-10-10 was configured with two classes of service seating 22 up front and 262 in coach. Special to this bird was the lounge area commonly referred to as the…

Vintage Airline Seat Map: Eastern Airlines DC-10-30

I’ve selected an Eastern Airlines DC-10 for this installment of Vintage Airline Seat Maps. The series 30 model was a longer range version of the then popular Douglas Aircraft Company tri-jet. Instantly distinguished from the dash-10 series by the additional center main twin-wheel landing gear, Eastern initially operated this airplane on the Miami to London…
