United Airlines MileagePlus Explorer and Club credit cards by Chase

[Edited 7/2/12: The offers below have expired]

As other BoardingArea bloggers have posted already today, we all received an email from our affiliate company advising us that our links for the United Airlines MileagePlus Explorer and MileagePlus Club cards will be deactivated on Monday, July 2. But don’t panic if you’ve been meaning to apply and haven’t yet – the cards are NOT going away.

It’s simply the end of the quarter and Chase has apparently done very well in marketing these cards and met their desired goals. I will update my links on Monday with the new URL location, as well as post any differences in the benefits of each cards. I doubt the Club card will see any changes, but this would be an appropriate time for United and Chase to reconsider the bonus mile offer for the Explorer card.

If you want to ensure you get the current Explorer Card bonus of up to 40,000 miles, now might be a good time to apply. Here are the card benefits:

  • 25,000 bonus MileagePlus miles after first use & 5,000 more miles if you add an additional authorized user within two months of membership
  • 10,000 bonus MileagePlus miles every year you spend more than $25,000 on the card
  • Free first checked bag for you and a companion
  • Priority boarding immediately following elite frequent flyers
  • Two complimentary United Club passes every year
  • Earn 2 miles for every $1 spent on United purchases and 1 mile per $1 for everything else
  • No annual fee the first year, $95/year thereafter

Here’s my application link for the United MileagePlus Explorer credit card.

The current United Club credit card offer is as follows:

  • Annual United Club membership for airport lounge access – up to a $475 value
  • Premier Access priority airport services (priority check-in, security lanes where available, boarding)
  • Earn 1.5 award miles per dollar spent – a 50% bonus on the 1 mile per dollar you typically earn. Earn even more on United tickets –
    2 miles per dollar spent
  • Check your first and second bag for free
  • No Foreign Transaction Fees
  • Your miles don’t expire as long as you’re a cardmember
  • You won’t pay close-in booking fees on award travel
  • Additional benefits with Avis and Hyatt

Here’s my application link for the United MileagePlus Club credit card.

Again, these cards are most certainly not going away. We bloggers have just been advised our dedicated links with the offers we posted will be disabled.

I receive a referral credit for anyone who applies for a card using the links in some of my posts and I remain grateful to those who do.

Comments

    • @Lord Fish: I have the Explorer card from my last churn just for the bonus miles, but I know many without elite status are really starting to love the Club card with its Premier Access perks and lounge access. Hopefully others will chime in.

  1. You signed up using the up to 40k miles you posted in the blog or the other well known one that gives 65k and $50 credit that I believe you are /certainly/ aware of?….

  2. I am curious about the referral credit that you get. I think that I have used your links a few times in the recent past, and your blog posts are superb.

I would like to set up my own links for my family/friends. What is the process for doing that?

    • @UVA: Thanks for your nice words about my blog, and of course for using my links… I greatly appreciate it. Sent you an email with more info.
