JetBlue revealed its new transcontinental premium A321 cabin last month at the Global Business Travel Association conference in San Diego. But it didn’t have a name until today.

Mint premium service seats officially went on sale today for flights beginning June 15 between New York JFK and Los Angeles. JetBlue’s schedule is only loaded through June 18 at this point, so there are only a handful available featuring the new service. In November, schedules will be extended through the full 2014 summer season. And JFK-San Francisco flights featuring Mint will be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Introductory prices for the service start at $499 one-way for a restrictive ticket, and $999 for a fully refundable fare. Once the limited $499 fares sell out (if they haven’t already), fares will be priced from $599 one-way. That’s an enormous bargain for a service that’s touted to rival (and exceed) that of mainline carriers such as American, Delta and United. A quick check of business class fares from those airlines reveals $2,187 for a one-way ticket in June.

It will be a “protected†cabin with no frequent flier upgrades allowed. But with prices that low, even cheapo me would buy a ticket at those rates. And if you’re wondering, yes, the seat map is appropriately green:

Did you notice the asterisked statement about the solo “suites†in rows 2 & 4? While there’s no premium for those seats currently, there is certainly an opportunity for JetBlue to charge more for them in the future.

Amenities for Mint passengers will include 6’8†lie-flat seats with air cushions and a massage function, a 15-inch IFE monitor, deluxe meals from Saxon + Parole, fresh cappuccino and espresso, a Birchbox amenity kit (yay!), and a lot more. For more info on the Mint experience, click here.

It’s an amazing looking and sounding product and I’m certain JetBlue will deliver on it. And as I’m a bit more flexible these days in airline choice, it’s one I’ll likely try.
